Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Learn more about Blaise Pascal, a child prodigy who was educated by his father. Pascal's earliest work was in the natural and applied sciences where he made important contributions to the construction of mechanical calculators, the study of fluids, and clarified the concepts of pressure and vacuum by generalizing the work of Evangelista Torricelli. He was a mathematician of the first order and wrote a significant treatise on the subject of projective geometry at the age of sixteen. In honor of his scientific contributions, the name Pascal has been given to the SI unit of pressure, to a programming language, Pascal's law (an important principle of hydrostatics), Pascal's triangle and Pascal's wager. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge. Less
