Theme from The Infernal Galop (in an easy range) from Act II, Scene 2 from Jacques Offenbachs opera, Orpheus in the Underworld (Orphee aux enfers) is known as the Can-can. Its a high-energy and physically demanding music hall dance that first appeared in the working-class ballrooms of Montparnasse in Paris around 1830. It was a more lively version of the galop, a dance in quick 2/4 time Many other composers have written music for the cancan including Franz Lehars The Merry Widow, Khachaturians Sabre Dance and the music hall standard Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay. In popular culture the theme has been used as Film, TV and video game music in for instance Super Mario Land, Tiny Toon Adventures, The Benny Hill Show and The Perry Como Show Lead Sheet with melody and chords for Flute, arranged by Lars Christian Lundholm.
