In western countries, the history and development of Clinical Psychology as a profession are very well documented, and there is apt information about the individuals, research work and practices that contributed to the establishment of the profession as it is today. In Ghana, as in many other countries, most of our studies in this area are based on this western documentation, and it is difficult, sometimes even impossible, to find materials that track the development of the field in the country. However, it is important for students, as well as clinicians, to have knowledge of the historical basis underlying the existence of this profession in the country, and of Ghanaian research, training and practices in the field. This book, Clinical Psychology in Ghana, addresses this issue by providing a comprehensive historical report of the foundation of Clinical Psychology in the Ghanaian Society. It chronicles major research works that influenced the acceptance and growth of the field in this society, and relevant treatment and training procedures, aimed at offering a good basis for further studies and research, for the improvement of the practice of Clinical Health Psychology in Ghana.
