The philosophy of modern Maroonism stems from our desire to articulate a clear discourse on the aesthetics of the Caribbean and Latin America. The rational nucleus of maroonist thought was shaped as early as 1979: a first text on aesthetics was first diffused in the cultural circles of the Caribbean. Many writers, poets, artists coming from all disciplinary fields signed this first draft of the manifesto on the cultural resistance of a new artistic current, which was revolutionary for its time.But it was in 1990 that the first edition of the “modern Maroonism” was published. The work allowed us to take up a challenge, to propose another creative path that we conceived, a philosophy of maroonist life. Since then, numerous artists from the Caribbean and the Americas have studied this opus to bestow meaning on their creations in many artistic and cultural disciplines. Less
