Every morning, Agnes lay in bed and regretted ever having accepted a job at McLaughlin Mertens … Agnes Walters has a well-paid job in a large law firm and a beautiful apartment, which she shares with her boyfriend, in a trendy part of town. What more could a young woman want? Isn’t this the definition of success? Isn’t this exactly what Agnes has worked so hard for? The truth is that Agnes’s life is far from perfect. She works crazy hours, so she never sees her boyfriend or her apartment, except late at night. Her boss is a bully. The work she does is mind numbing.
