This memoir chronicles the hilarity and severity involved while raising two amazing little boys with dramatically different special needs. Within two weeks I was informed that my newborn had cerebral palsy and my one year old was diagnosed with autism. I have an uncommonly tough but humorous approach to handling the tidal wave of responsibility that comes when navigating through the confusing and all consuming worlds of Medical Assistance, HIPAA and Early Intervention. This family could have been crushed beneath the weight of such adversity but the Ufemas have only grown stronger. We are an unconventional family living an unconventional life. We break rules and make rules. The boys’ progress has been nothing short of miraculous.
