As human beings, we understand and make sense of the social world using social cognition. Social cognitions are cognitive processes through which we understand, process, and recall our interactions with others. It focuses on the role that cognitive processes play in our social interactions. The way we think about others plays a major role in how we think, feel, and interact with the world around us. Research on social cognition proceeds from the assumption that the profoundly interdependent nature of everyday life has resulted in the development of a suite of cognitive processes that are acutely sensitive to the social environment.
