Imagine a woman who, daily, practices gratitude to God. This woman read all the books written by her spiritual coach Rabbi Shalom Arush, and she came to a great understanding of the wisdom behind the concept of gratitude. There is not even one day that passes without her saying thank you to God with love. Her life is full of gratefulness to God and therefore, full of joy, love, fulfillment, and blessing. Now this woman is in labor. Her contractions are getting greater and greater, the medical staff are all around her. The baby is about to come out any second. The woman pushes with all her strength in this final contraction, and... the baby is out! Wow! She did it! But something is wrong... there is no sound of a crying baby. She screams and asks the nurses, Why isn't the baby crying?!? She hears the nurses talking among themselves. Apgar 1, she overhears. Apgar 0 means a lifeless baby, and Apgar 10 is a normal, healthy birth on the scale. She realizes that her baby is almost dead. Her world now turns black. She cries out to God. Master of the World, why are You doing something like this to me..?!? What is going on here? What did I do wrong that You are doing this to me?She is thinking of the people waiting outside the room, anticipating news of the newborn. She is in terrible, terrible pain. And then... she switches the script. She remembers what she has been practicing and says to herself, Hold it - I always thank God, I have learned to always say thank you. Master of the World, forgive me, forgive me! If that is what You decided - forgive me. If that is what You want then I accept it with love. Thank You!The very moment she says thank you, the baby starts to cry. It took four minutes of the mother conversing with God. In another minute, there would have been no baby to save. Her baby cries and becomes completely healthy. First, he was dark blue, barely breathing for four minutes. Then everything changed.Gratitude leads to miracles, yet not all of us manage to think sanely in times of stress, and certainly not to say thank you. So why is this woman capable of doing so?There are many miracles that happen in the light of gratitude. The story above is just one example. This short book will provide a quick and practical guide to understanding the power that stands behind gratitude and how to live in that powerful light.
