“It becomes everyone's best friend after a while,” Emily said, referring to the oak tree that was such a big part of her life growing up. In time, the tree comes to represent the sturdiness and resilience of her own family, upon receiving some devastating news. Under the Oak Tree will follow the lives of two families, each bound together by the love and strength they give one another during their times of great joy and great sorrow. These two families will eventually be brought together by those very same virtues.
