This book provides a minimalist account of Focus and Topic constructio ns on the basis of a syntax-phonology interface analysis. On the assum ption that structural investigation must proceed from 'bare output con ditions', the author starts her analysis from the prosodic phrasing of Focus and Topic constructions proceeding to the type and extent of de rivations which produced the relevant PF structures. The originality o f the present work rests on its syntax-phonology interface perspective , which is systematically applied to both Focus and Topic analysis.
