Ten years ago, Maelle, a newly initiated priestess of the Eternal Hearth, and Cynnet, a young chieftain of the ancient Scottish land, Ystrad Clud, had been drawn to each other during a king-making ritual on the Isle of Mann. But, she had vowed to serve the Goddess, and he was already wed to another and swore an oath to protect his lands. So, they had parted ways. Now, as high priestess, Maelle has been sent by the Lady of the Eternal Hearth to heal Cynnet's wife of a very serious illness. As they work together to save her life, their undeniable attraction re-kindles and quickly grows into a forbidden love affair. Can they overcome treacherous and seemingly insurmountable odds to finally unite their lives?

This 100-page novella, set in early 6th-century Scotland and Isle of Mann, is a prequel to the novel, "Lady of the Eternal Hearth," which follows the adventures of the powerful healer, Ellinora, from Ystrad Clud to the famed Camelot and back.
