The following pages describe the principles of international monetary economics, the workings of the Bretton Woods System, the events leading to its collapse and the complexity of the world monetary crisis. In the final part, suggestions are made for an effective realisation of European monetary integration and for the building of a new world monetary order. Originally, the author intended to call this book 'European Monetary Integration and the World Monetary Crisis.' Subsequent events moulded the two questions into its present short title.
